The dream of the former SRC President of the Ghana School of Law, Sammy Gyamfi, becoming the National Communications Officer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has been shot down by the party

The outspoken young man was disqualified by the party’s Vetting Committee for not meeting the criteria needed to contest for a National Executive position as prescribed in the party’s constitution.

Inside sources say Gyamfi’s disqualification was premised on Article 40 (2) of the NDC Constitution which states that “A member of the party is not qualified to vie for a National Executive Committee position unless the member has held an executive position within the party or government before seeking election”.

Mr. Gyamfi and Fred Agbenyo were the only two candidates vying for the position of National Communications Officer of the NDC.

By virtue of Gyamfi’s technical knockout (TKO), Mr. Agbenyo will now have a field day of annexing the position when the umbrella family goes to the polls on November 3, 2018 to elect their National Executive officers.

Two others, Wonder Mandilo, former NUGS President and Elikem Kotoko, former General Secretary of the Ghana Union of Polytechnic Students (GUPS), kasapafmonline.com understands, were also disqualified on same grounds.

The two were all vying for the National Youth Organiser position of the party alongside two other candidates, George Opare Addo and Yaw Brogya Genfi.

The Vetting Committee of the NDC is made up of the following; General Carl Modey, Hon. Hajia Laadi Ayamba, Hon. Marrieta Brew Oppong and Hon. Magnus Kofi Amoatey.

The rest are Kofi Adams, Vincent Kuagbenu and Hon. Nii Okaija Adamafio.
