The uncompleted Ghana National Fire Service office at Anyaa
Members of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Anyaa Sowutuom constituency are calling the President's attention to an office building for the Ghana National Fire Service that has remained uncompleted after it was initiated by former President John Mahama.
The uncompleted office building is located at Anyaa a suburb of Accra and is now a forlorn sight after its construction was abandoned midway following President Akufo-Addo's assumption of office two years ago.
“We just want the President to do the needful and complete what his predecessor bequeathed to him. We find it rather disappointing that two whole years into President Akufo-Addo's rule, the Fire Service office at Anyaa is still uncompleted,” Ralph Apetorgbor, a Deputy Communication Officer with the Anyaa Sowutuom branch of the NDC told What'sUp News on phone.
According to him, the NPP government has also abandoned a bus terminal project that former President Mahama had started in 2016 at the Anyaa Market and this is causing problems. “Because of the pendency of that project drivers are parking their vehicles on the road and this is causing a lot of vehicular traffic,” Mr Apetorgbor added.
Meanwhile, Anyaa Sowutuom NDC has listed a number of projects that were undertaken by former President Mahama in the constituency and are vowing that attempts by President Akufoi-Addo to claim credit for them will be resisted.
According to the branch, former President Mahama's infrastructural imprints in the constituency include the Ga Central Assembly complex located at Antie Aku-Kokompe which is scheduled for commissioning by President Akufo-Addo on his ongoing tour.
“The project was completely funded under NDC government of President John Mahama in 2014. The contract had been awarded to Messrs Kadabot Ventures LTD/Akuffo&Associates Consultancy on 01/08/2014,” he said.
It warned that vibes emerging from government to the effect that President Akufo-Addo will commission it as a project he masterminded will be exposed.
Ralph Apetorgbor said the Anyaa Basic School block was started and completed by the Mahama government in 2016 and therefore, vibes from the government that President Akufo-Addo will commission it tomorrow as his brainchild will be refuted.
The President started a tour of the Greater Accra Region yesterday and will commission a number of projects as part of the tour.
