Private legal practitioner, Sulley Sambian has observed that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) does better in democracy practically than those of the opposition that touts it.

Lawyer Sulley Sambian who is also the North East Regional Secretary of the party indicated that no political party in Ghana comes close to the NPP when it is about the rudiments of democracy and its practices.

Reacting to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s assertion that he does not need the support of the Electoral Commission (EC) to facilitate his winning of polls in Ghana, he stated that once he never relied on that in 2016, he will never nurture such thoughts in 2020.

“You didn’t need it in 2016. Certainly, will not need it in 2020. The will of the people is expressed through the democratic process of elections, and you are a Democrat. Even though the NPP government is ideologically inclined towards social Democracy, we do better than those who tout it.

The elections in 2020 obviously would be won or lost on the basis of the track record of the two major parties. I have no doubt, and God on our side, the NPP will win”, he expressed optimism.

According to him, the NPP will be the victors against the NDC or any political party any day in view of its achievements chalked in various sectors including the implementation of pro-poor policies that inure to the benefit of the masses.

“In 2000, John Kufuor introduced the free maternal health care. He implemented the free health care policy for children under 17 years. Today, the NPP government through your leadership introduced free SHS to take care of those children whose mothers benefited from the free maternal health care of John Kufuor”, he stressed.
