The Member of Parliament for North Dayi, Joycelyn Tetteh, has supported candidates who sat for the just-ended Basic Education Certificate Examination (B.E.C.E.) in her constituency.

The youngest MP in the Volta Region visited all the BECE centres prior to start of the exams and gave a feeding fee of GH?10 to each of the 687 candidates in her constituency.

She would have cooked for them but remembered the season of Ramadan is being observed by the Muslims.

She encouraged the students not to entertain any fear of the examination but put in their very best, since it is a special turning-point in their lives.

The affable MP promised a unique package for best-performing students in the examination. “I am there for you all,” she said.

The legislator admonished the candidates to take good care of themselves, especially the girl children – so they don’t fall victim to teenage pregnancy and other social ills, since life in school is different from life after school.

“Your parents need you, North Dayi needs you, and Ghana needs you,” she said.

Lydia Zor, a candidate who could not control her excitement, came out voluntarily and showed her heart-felt appreciation to the Member of Parliament for this gesture. She recounted how the same lawmaker saved them a couple of months ago by paying their mock fee of GH?20 each for all candidates in the district.

“Had it not been your timely intervention, some of us couldn’t have written the mock exams which forms an integral part of our education,” candidate Lydia told the gathering.

Headmasters and teachers who brought their students to the exam centres were so happy and congratulated the MP for a good job done.
