Former Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Koku Anyidoho has tasked President Akufo-Addo to deal decisively with the suspended CEO of the Public Procurement Authority (PPA), Mr A.B. Adjei, after he was unmasked in an exposé over the alleged sale of contracts.

Mr Adjei, per Investigative journalist, Manasseh Azure Awuni’s latest piece, ‘Contracts for Sale’, was said to have established his own company under the name Talent Discovery Limited, incorporated in June 2017 which has won some government contracts through restrictive tendering.

According to him, the reluctance of the government to institute credible and transparent investigations into the fraud and corruption, which were the benchmark of the John Mahama regime, is leading to a sense of hopelessness, indifference.

“The president must deal decisively with this matter to serve as a deterrent to others,” Koku Anyidoho told Kwame Tutu on Anopa Nkomo on Accra based Kingdom FM 107.7.

“Equality before the law means exactly that if anyone misconducts himself the law should be able to deal with him accordingly In the same way if you are a businessman who misconducts himself, the law should be able to deal with you.”

The scandal has radically changed public perceptions of how politics works and the danger corporate power presents to democracy. It has electrified a dozy parliament and subjected the least accountable and most corrupt profession in Ghana – journalism – to belated public scrutiny.

Although there have been several allegations of corruption against some Akufo Addo appointees, none of them has been prosecuted as they have through various committees been cleared of any wrongdoing.

Special Prosecutor Martin Amidu has also formally written to the suspended CEO of the Public Procurement Authority (PPA), Mr A.B. Adjei, to make himself available for investigation following allegations of corruption levelled against him.
