Politicizing Capt. Mahama's death insensitive – NPP USA

The USA branch of governing NPP has condemned the politicization of the tragic loss of Captain Maxwell Adam Mahama, a commander of a military detachment to Denkyira Obuasi in the Central Region.

The USA branch of the NPP believes that the demise of Captian Mahama should be a moment for all Ghanaians to come together as one and fight the growing canker of mob justice together.

“A critical first step is for us to come together as Ghanaians from all backgrounds and of all persuasions, to seek justice and to fight this insidious descent into the kind of mob mentality that has prematurely taken Capt. Adam Mahama’s life. This is a necessary step toward honoring the life and work of our compatriot, and healing our national conscience.” a statement read

They condemned the actions of groups and individuals that sought to introduce a political twist to the discussions and indicated that such contributions are insensitive and not in the interest of the nation.

The statement noted “It is important to resist any who will want to capitalize on our collective loss for selfish political ends. The death of Capt. Adam Mahama and the attendant pain for his family and for the larger Ghanaian society cannot, and should not be politicized.

"The heinous act which took our brother's life is a sad example of deviant social behavior which requires a decisive and collective effort to nip it in the bud. Capt. Adam Mahama stood for Ghana, and we must reciprocate by focusing on seeking justice and the national interest.”

NPP - USA also urged all Ghanaians to keep calm and allow the security apparatus conduct the necessary investigations to unravel the mystery behind this unpardonable act.

They hoped that justice will be served as soon as possible and the necessary deterrent actions taken to ensure that such acts do not repeat itself.

Captain Mahama was lynched on suspicion that he was an armed robber as he carried a pistol on him while jogging Monday dawn.

Several narratives emerged as to the reason for which he was brutally lynched without due to the justice system of the country.

The President and other heads of security agencies have given assurance of justice to the case.

It has been reported that 5 people allegedly involved in this gruesome act have been picked up by the police for further investigations into the matter.
