Former cabinet minister under erstwhile Kufuor government Hajia Alima Mahama has expressed confidence in the new government appointees noting that members of the New Patriotic Party are usually professional about their work.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Adom TV’s Omanhene Kwabena Asante on the Morning Show; Badwam, the newly appointed Local Government Minister-designate stated that the NPP were better positioned to deliver at the helm of affairs because they were more concerned about doing their work efficiently rather than being drunk with power.

“NPP generally, we’re very professional about our work, yes there’s politics but we’re also professional about our work. We’re concerned about delivering, we’re not just concerned about just the power that there be, looking at the power and feeling good about the power; no, we’re concerned that we have to deliver and we have to do a job and we believe in democracy…” Hajia Mahama responded when she was asked whether the NPP would perform differently from the NDC.

She also lashed out at members of the Mahama administration for what she describes as insensitivity to issues of the Ghanaian populace.

Hajia Alima Mahama noted that she was disappointed at some of the wordings of some members of the NDC government. Sighting the popular ‘dead goat’ phrase which was used by former President Mahama, the Local Government Minister-designate stated that both the president and his ministers of state were careless with their use of words.

“I had a feeling that the NDC government did not care, they didn’t care. For example, the President says I’m a dead goat, I begin to wonder especially he’s seen as somebody who trained in communication, he’s supposed to be a communication expert…” she indicated.

Hajia Alima Mahama continued by saying that “his ministers and staff were also saying things that you wouldn’t feel they were sensitive to the issues of Ghanaians.”

The Local Government Minister-designate is among newly named cabinet members by President Akufo-Addo.
