The move by Portuguese coach Pedro Caixinha to join Scottish side Rangers will not only benefit Qatar side Al Gharafa financially but could see Ghana defender Rashid Sumaila realizing his dream of playing in Europe.

Reports in Qatar suggest that the Ghanaian could join the Portuguese trainer at his new club as the gaffer describes the former Asante Kotoko defender as his trusted center back.

The Scottish side announced a three year contract with the Portuguese coach following Al Gharafa’s decision to allow the coach to take up the vacant coaching job.

Reports say the Qatar side initially declined the offer to allow the coach to walk out of his contract but the Scottish side has eventually succeeded in reaching a deal.

The three parties, Caixinha, Rangers and Al Gharafa are believed to have completed talks on Thursday and the Portuguese trainer will leave the Leopards in May.

Caixinha, who has been the godfather of Rashid Sumaila since he joined Al Gharafa on loan from Al Qadsia emerged as Rangers' number one choice to replace Mark Warburton last week.

The move could be a major advantage for the Ghana defender who contributed immensely in lifting the side from the bottom of the Qatar Stars League table to 4th with some few matches to end the season.

Sumaila who joined Al Gharafa after four matches in the season was voted the side’s best player after the first round of the league.
