The leadership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) must release the report on why the NDC lost the 2016 elections compiled by the Botchwey Committee to all the 275 constituency executives of the party, Kweku Ricketts-Hagan, Member of Parliament for the Cape Coast South constituency has said.

According to him, as the party gears for its internal elections to elect new executives to steer affairs of the NDC, it is important for party members to actually know what caused the party’s defeat to help in restrategising at the various branches ahead of the 2020 polls.

Prof Kwesi Botchwey and his committee submitted the report to the national leadership of the NDC, but it has been kept under lock and key.

Speaking in an interview with Chief Jerry Forson, host of Ghana Yensom on Accra 100.5FM on Wednesday, 20 December while announcing his decision to contest to become the next flagbearer of the NDC, Mr Rikectts-Hagan said the report can no longer be kept secret.

“I thought the report was done for us as a party and, therefore, all of us in the 275 constituencies of the NDC party must have the report so that we will know what is actually contained in the report to enable us deal with the issues that led to our defeat.

“I think that at least, not to give the report to the whole of Ghana, but at least members of the NDC leadership in all the 275 constituencies, I believe must have this report especially as we are going to conduct our branch, constituency, regional and then national elections. We need to know exactly what went wrong and not through hearsay.

“We cannot sweep the things that happened to us under the carpet and think that we can sit on top of the carpet and preside over a party that is cured of its ailments”.
