The Brong Ahafo Regional First Vice Chairman of the NPP, Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as ‘Abronye DC’ has described NDC’s Member of Parliament for Kumbungu, Ras Mubarak as a 'mad' person.

According to him, the law maker’s intention to back words with action by riding a bicycle to Parliament from Tuesday in protest of the high cost of fuel and the economic conditions under the Akufo-Addo administration is mere ‘stupidity’.

“Ras Mubarak needs a psychiatric examination. His own party member [Brigadier Joseph Nunoo-Mensah] ones said ‘if you think the price of fuel is high park your car and use a bicycle’. So if he’s ready to park his car to ride a bicycle then he is mentally sick, he is mad,” Abronye DC said in an interview with NEAT FM’s morning show ‘Ghana Montie’.

The NDC law maker has in recent times expressed his frustration over President Akufo-Addo’s failure to deliver to Ghanaians the ‘haven’ he promised during his campaign time.

With the 2019 budget set to be delivered later in November, Ras Mubarak perhaps hopes it actually delivers on the hopes promised and also offers relief to Ghanaians.

The prices of both petrol and diesel have risen by about 2.76 percent. The price of petrol and diesel is currently pegged at about GH¢5.21 per litre, up from the previous price of GH¢5.07 per litre, despite a reduction in the price of crude oil on the international market.

“Fuel prices keep going up. Prices of commodities keep going up and there seems to be no end in sight in respect of the suffering that ordinary Ghanaians who do not have free fuel and free vehicles maintained by the state,” Mr. Mubarak said in an interview.

But controversial Abronye DC noted that Ghanaians faced more difficulties during Mahama’s administration than the incumbent – hence, Ras Mubarak's claims are just baseless.

“NDC caused the country a lot and that is what the President is fixing now,” he told sit-in host Mac-Jerry Osei Agyeman.

Meanwhile, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Kumbungu, today (Tuesday) rode a bicycle to Parliament House to register his protest against the unbearable living conditions in the country.

Wearing a pair of trousers, a reflector on top of a shirt, a helmet and a pair of trainers, the legislator rode on a 17 kilometre road from his residence in Accra to Parliament. (Location of residence reserved for security reason).

Ras Mubarak told the Daily Graphic that he decided to ride the bike to highlight the sufferings that many Ghanaians were going through.
