Sammy Anim Addo pulls out of GFA vice presidential race

Samuel Anim Addo, one of the representatives of the Division One League on the Executive Council of the Ghana Football Association has pulled out of the race for the vice presidential seat of the association, footballmadeinghana.com can confirm.

The young and ambitious CEO of Young Apostles pulled out of the race a few hours to the contest claiming advice from his ‘elders’ informed the decision.

Anim Addo had announced his intention to contest for the position after emerging as a surprised candidate to pick a slot on the Division One League to join the ExCo.

But in the build up to the elections, Anim Addo has pulled out of the race insisting he will support any candidate who wins to help the new FA redefine Ghana football.

A source close to the GFA ExCo member told footballmadeinghana.com that Anim Addo has been advised to pull out.

“Sammy has been advised to pull out and it’s in order. Considering his age and his rise to the ExCo with such a rapid force, it’s better he doesn’t rush himself into deep politics in the FA. He must rise steadily,” the source said.

“He will channel all his energy to help the president and his vice to reshape Ghana football and at the right time if he must contest for any position, he will,” the source added.

The race is now left for Medeama SC Board Chairman Dr. Tony Aubynn, Hearts of Lions owner Randy Abbey and Nzema Kotoko founder Mark Addo.

The GFA is expected to elect a vice president by the close of work on Tuesday.
