Ghana's Ministry of Youth and Sports has congratulated the President of the Ghana FA Kwesi Nyantakyi following his re-election onto the FIFA Council during Thursday's CAF elections in Addis Ababa.
The influential Ghana FA capo pulled 33 out of 54 votes to defeat Leodegar Tenga of Tanzania who was contesting him for the position.
And in a release signed by the Public Relations Officer of the Sports Ministry Elvis Agyei-Baah, the Sports Minister Hon. Isaac Asiamah lauded Kwesi Nyantakyi for winning the election adding that his victory is for all Ghanaians.
'The Minister for Youth and Sports, Hon. Isaac Kwame Asiamah on behalf of the Ministry and Government of Ghana congratulates the President of the Ghana Football Association, Mr. Kwesi Nyantakyi on his re-election to a four-year second term on the FIFA Council.
"Your re-election to the FIFA Council is undoubtedly a testament of your commitment, dedication and contribution to the development of the game not only in Ghana but on the Africa continent," the statement read.
The Sports Ministry then urged Kwesi Nyantakyi to continue to raise the flag of Ghana high assuring him of their unflinching support.
"As you embark upon your responsibilities on the Council, we wish to assure you of the much-needed support and hope that you will bring your diverse experience to bear on your new position to further develop the fortunes of Ghana football."
Nyantakyi will serve on the FIFA Council as they steer the affairs of world football for the next four years.
