Victor K. Adawudu, lawyer for some five persons standing trial for their alleged involvement in a plot to overthrow the Akufo-Addo led government, has stated that his clients have been set-up and when the case starts to unfold in court, Ghanaians will be shocked.

Speaking in an interview with Accra-based Joy FM monitored by MyNewsGh.com, the lawyer noted the set-up has been so messy that Ghanaians will be shocked given that it was done by unintelligent people.

“People will be shocked as to how this set-up and when you put people who are unintelligent as people to set up, these are the kinds of things that we will wake up to,” he said.

He also faulted the security agencies for making two of his clients appear before court last Friday without informing him in time so he could be in Court to defend them, alleging that such an action makes him believe that his clients have been set-up

“…It all tells me that there is something that is being covered up…And I insist on my word and say and that this is all set up, it’s dilatory and we can’t glorify this. We will wait patiently. Let them be put to court, charged and their plea taken and the drama will unfold. This nation will be shocked,” he alleged.

The five accused persons standing trial for their alleged involvement in the alleged coup plot to overthrow the Akufo-Addo government have been charged with possession of arms and ammunition without lawful excuse.

They include Colonel Samuel Kojo Gameli, Gershon Akpa, Dr Frederick Yao Mac-Palm, owner of Citadel Hospital and his two accomplices – Mr Ezor Kafui (a local weapon manufacturer) and Mr Bright Allan Debrah Ofosu (aka BB or ADC)

All have been remanded by a Kaneshie District Court presided over by Rosemond Dodua Agyiri for their alleged involvement in the alleged coup plot to reappear at a later date.
