The Amasaman Constituency executives of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) has debunked the reports trending on some media outlets that they have described President Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo – Addo as a failure in this 4th Republic.
According to a statement issued and signed by the Constituency Executive Committee, the publications out with the caption "Akufo Addo has failed" is false and also a pure calculated attempt staged by some saboteurs to create confusion between the constituency executives and the grassroots.
The statement said, due to the upcoming Parliamentary primaries some aliens who fear to lose the contest has allegedly engage the media to destroy the credible candidate whom the masses love at heart to lose the public interest from winning the race and compete with the opposition National Democratic Congress in next year general elections.
The statement said, "It is interesting to note, that within the space of about 5 days, there have been two(2) publications from different media houses that seek to attack or drag the name of the constituency and especially it's Executives, where no executive in the party has made a public statement against the President.
It stated that on Saturday, 3rd of August 2019, there was a publication that a demolition exercise in the Ga-west Municipality with the caption, "Amasaman Market Demolition: NPP Executives start the campaign against Akufo-Addo’’, although the body of the story had no links or connections to any of the Constituency Executives.
Also on the 4th August, there was a publication of The Witness Newspaper (pro-NDC paper), that the attack on CEC was seen at the cover page with a picture of one of the aspiring parliamentary candidates, who happens to be the constituency 1st vice-chairman, with the caption, Akufo Addo has failed-Amasaman NPP declares.
However, the Constituency Executive Committee who are not happy with the publication is calling on the said media houses to retract and apologize for misleading Ghanaians and for bringing the name of the New Patriotic Party and Amasaman CEC in disrepute, within the next five days or face their wrath
The statement, further, urged the general public, especially NPP members in Amasaman and the entire party, to threat this ill-intent publication, with the greatest of contempt it deserves’’.
