The General Secretary of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) Johnson Asiedu Nketia, also known ‘General Mosquito’, has explained that the power crisis also known as ‘dumsor’ is an accumulation of a long period of neglect but says the NDC government will fix it.

Asiedu Nketiah disclosed this in an interview with Bola Ray on Star Chat on Wednesday, May 27, 2015.

General Mosquito said the power crisis affects his daily life like any other Ghanaian.

“I have a generator and I am suffering like any other Ghanaian as a result of the power crisis in the country. I am happy that this government is trying to fix the problem,” he emphasized.

He added that Ghana must turn to thermal or coal energy since the country cannot develop any more hydro dams.

Ghanaians have had to endure a harsh powers crisis necessitating a load-shedding which has brought many businesses on their knees and workers laid-off.

The ‘dumsor’ situation which authorities blame it on low water level in the Akosombo, Bui and Kpong dams, among other factors have resulted in pressure on the Mahama government to fix the problem, after its numerous assurance to solve the problem have not been fulfilled.

Some celebrities, led by actress Yvonne Nelson, earlier this month embarked on a dumsor vigil to protest the unending power crisis and the effects it has had on their lives, urging the Mahama government to fix it immediately.
