Leadership of the opposition National Democratic Congress(NDC) has appealed to hundreds of its supporters and branch executives in the Yilo Krobo constituency in the Eastern Region to exercise restraint.

The supporters have threatened to resign over attempts to disqualify a Parliamentary aspirant, Albert Nyakotey Tetteh in the party’s parliamentary primary slated for Saturday August 24, 2019.

The Director of Elections for the NDC, Elvis Afriyie Ankrah in an interview said the party will look into the matter to ensure peace on the Yilo Krobo constituency which is one of the party’s stronghold in the Eastern Region.

“The party has rules and regulations and at any given time there are processes for redressing grievances and so everybody will be treated fairly according to lay down procedures. We’ll not bend the rules for anybody neither will we also treat anybody unfairly. They should be patient and allow the processes and procedures to work.”

He added: “Defecting to another political party will not be a solution because when they defect and go to another political party they are going to start from class one and they will never be trusted. It will be better to stay in their party and work and deal with whatever grievances they have rather than reacting in anger.”
