Jean Mensa is Chairperson of the Electoral Commission
The actions and inactions of the current Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC), Madam Jean Mensa will plunge the country into chaos if care is not taken, 1st Vice Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Nhyiaeso constituency , Richard Prah has warned.
He charged the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Jean Mensa to take advice and learn from her predecessors at Commission like Afari Gyan and Madam Charlotte Osei.
Members of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) have criticized some decisions of the Electoral Commission under Madam Jean Mensah.
According to Richard Prah, though Electoral Commission is an independent body, the commission should work and listen to the concerns of political parties in this country.
He said, “Jean Mensa as EC Chairperson should know that she is a referee as far as Ghana elections are concern. A referee should not be bias. Referee shouldn’t be in bed with any political party” he said.
Richard Prah charged EC Chairperson Jean Mensa to think about the peace Ghanaians are enjoying after previous elections insisting that Jean Mensah should consult her predecessors Dr. Afari Gyan and Madam Charlotte Osei if need be.
“Even if she (Jean Mensa) has issues with Madam Charlotte Osei the former EC boss and for that matter she cannot consult her, Dr Kwadwo Afari Gyan is still alive. She should consult him on how to conduct peaceful elections and how to work with political parties without being bias”, he advised.
