Deputy Majority Leader and MP for Dome-Kwabenya Constituency, Sarah Adwoa Safo has cut sod for the construction of a three-tier interchange in her Constituency.

The GHC19.093 million project awarded to a local contractor is scheduled to be completed within 12 months.

According to the project design, the first phase of the project will link the Mr. Adjei road to Taifa-Burkina through to the Haatso-Papao road while the other phase will see the construction of the Dome Pillar 2 road through to Atomic Junction.

Minister for Roads and Highways, Kwesi Amoako-Attah said a 1.5km dual carriageway will be constructed as well as a 750 metre drainage system to reduce perennial flooding in the Dome-Kwabenya Constituency.

He said the roads will have asphaltic concrete surface, with pedestrian walkways and streetlights to ensure visibility at night.

Minister of State in charge of Public Procurement, Sarah Adwoa Safo said government is committed to improving the living conditions of the people of Dome-Kwabenya since the constituency is one of the governing party’s largest strongholds.

The MP told residents to be rest assured as their days of travelling on rough roads are over because the right time had come for them to also enjoy a reshaped and tarred road.

She called on Chiefs in the Constituency to support the worthy cause and asked residents to cooperate with the assembly to ensure efficient delivery of the project by relocating their structures from areas earmarked for the project.

The Ministry of Roads and Highways through the Ghana Highway Authority subjected the project to competitive bidding by Ghanaian contractors after which a local contractor was selected.
