"Ghanaians are getting disappointed with the New Patriotic Party (NPP) because of the fake promises they continue to make," these are the words of the former President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama.

According to him, the NPP government during the 2016 electioneering period made several promises of which none has been fulfilled; especially with the assurance of giving each constituency one million dollars.

“It is clearly evident that after the NPP took power, most people are getting disappointed because the things they promised to do are not what Ghanaians are seeing”.

Speaking at the NDC unity walk at Tarkwa in the Western Region today, November 25, the former President said NDC is a party which is truthful as they don't tell lies because they deliver on every promise they make.

He indicated that the NDC when in power in 2016 made it known to Ghanaians that the one million dollars for every constituency the NPP promised to give aren't achievable as the country doesn't have such amount of money in its coffers.

“NDC is a party which doesn’t lie, we don’t tell lies. We don’t promise on what we can’t fulfill and if we can, we will promise on that....... I do remember during the campaign period they promised to give each constituency one million dollars, but we were in power and I made them know such isn’t possible, but they said Oh they can do it”, he said.

Former President Mahama and other bigwigs of the National Democratic Congress led thousands of party faithful in a unity walk aimed at re-energizing the grassroots of the party as part of on-going efforts towards rebuilding the party as recommended by the Professor Kwesi Botchwey report.

This is the fourth in a series of walks after similar events were held in Accra, Tamale and Cape Coast.
