Black Stars coach Kwesi Appiah has hailed their first half display in the win against Japan in Wednesday's international friendly encounter.

The West Africa powerhouse were splendid in the first stanza against the Blue Samurai at the Nissan Stadium in Yokohama as they went up by a goal to nil courtesy Thomas Partey's sleek free-kick in the 9th minute.

The four-time Africa champions were able to extend their lead in the 51st minute of the game but failed to match their first half standards, which Coach Kwesi Appiah reckoned in the aftermath of the match.

“I think the Ghana team, in the first half, was much better than in the second, and was tactically disciplined too.,” he told 442gh.com in an exclusive interview.

“In the second half, we relied on counter attacks and defended too much which I don’t like. I am always an attacking minded coach,” Kwasi Appiah said after the game in Japan.

The Black Stars will take on World Cup debutantes Iceland on June 7 at the 15,000 capacity Laugardalsvöllur stadium in Reykjavik.
