Henry Wellington attributes poor performance at Hearts of Oak to bad luck

Coach Henry Wellington believes that luck eluded him during his tenure as Hearts of Oak head coach.

The management of Hearts of Oak rescinded the contract of Henry Wellington following the team's poor run in the first half of the Zylofon Cash Premier League.

The soft-spoken trainer paid the price for a hugely unconvincing campaign that has left his side, in 12th place on the table - sitting just three points from safety - a position considered untenable by the Accra-based giants hierarchy.

Wellington believes his tenure at the club could have been successful had luck been on his side.

"Handling Accra of Oak was not a difficult task but after doing all at training, you need luck to get results. Change in results would prove whether I was the problem or not," Wellington told Happy FM.

"I wanted to resign when the results were not coming and people were abusing me verbally but I stayed on because of the club owner."

"The players started picking my strategies and were playing very well and I hope they can continue like that in the second."
