This week hasn't been short of news as many issues have been the center of discussions across the media landscape.
The week began with talk about fuel price hikes at the pump. Many motorists agitated about the price hikes with some driver unions threatening to go on strike. Senior Government officials especially Energy Minister addressing a news conference charged Ghanaians to appreciate the effort of the Akufo-Addo led administration as the price hikes could have been worse than it is currently. Many experts and industry players have called for dialogue on the pricing regime and price build up as used in Ghana.
The continuous talk of hardship in the country seemed to have reached a crescendo as spare parts dealers threatened a demonstration against the government on Friday to indicate their displeasure and discomfort. The spare parts dealers claim Akufo-Addo has failed to repay the trust reposed in him in the lead up to the 2016 election especially after contributing GHC200, 000 to his campaign.
The matters concerning the Special Prosecutor doesn't seem to have an end in sight as the Auditor General Daniel Domelevo waded into the discussion. Auditor General expressed concern that more than 7 months after the Special Prosecutor's office was created very little has been done by his office at prosecuting criminals. He disclosed that government's lack of commitment at resourcing the office has contributed greatly to the phenomenon.
