Controversial Member of Parliament(MP) for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong has fired Energy Minister, John Peter Amewu for taking full credit for works his predecessor started and not sharing the glory, MyNewsGh.com has filed.

Mr. Amewu has said government has “reviewed several power purchase agreements saving the country over $700 million every year for 13 years in excess capacity charges, adding that the Akufo-Addo government has brought sanity to the power sub-sector.

“The reviewed and renegotiated renewable energy PPAs resulted in the reduction of tariffs from the average of $19.057 to $12.78. The renewable energy total capacity also dropped from 2265.1MW to 515.6MW.” He said at the Meet The Press series Tuesday in Accra.

According to Amewu, he met the sector in a very deplorable state with “alarming high indebted utilities, high electricity tariffs, poor electricity distribution service and low energy penetration.

But reacting to news of cost saving in the Power sector on Net 2 TV, Kennedy Agyapong said Amewu “must share the glory with Boakye” . “8.8 billion saved. They have to give Boakye the credit. Period. Truthfully they know it. He started all these. It is true, the cost saving.” He said.

“The power producers they signed agreement that didn’t help the country. It was initiated by Boakye Agyarko. No one can take that from him” He added.
