Deputy coach of the Black Stars Ibrahim Tanko has disclosed that some players of Asante Kotoko will be invited into the Black Stars ahead of Ghana’s AFCON qualifier against Kenya to be played next month.

Asante Kotoko is Ghana’s sole representative in Africa club competition this year as they participate in the group stages of the CAF Confederation Cup.

The Porcupine Warriors are the only active club in the country as the local competitions have been suspended since 6 June 2019 after the Anas exposé.

They have played in two Confederation Cup matches in the group stage recording one loss and win against Al Hilal and ZESCO United.

Coach Tanko, who was at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium when the Porcupine Warriors defeated ZESCO United 2-1 in their second CAF Confederation Cup group C game, revealed that he and his head coach Kwesi Appiah have been monitoring the team’s progress.

He claims it’s likely invitation will be handed to some of the outstanding players in the team for Kenya tie which comes off in March.

"We have been watching them, myself, coach Kwasi Appiah and Maxwell Konadu have been monitoring the team, they are the ones playing competitive football in the country and there are a lot of the players who are doing well so we are monitoring them," he told Joy FM

"In March we have the game against Kenya and hopefully one friendly match so hopefully we will give some of them the chance."

Already goalkeeper Felix Annan has been outstanding for the Porcupine Warriors as some fans and pundits are already campaigning for his name to be added to Ghana’s AFCON squad.
