The McDan Group has received licence to operate and manage the executive lounge for private jets at the terminal 1 (T1) of the Kotoka International Airport (KIA).

As Ghana’s first fixed-base operator (FBO), McDan will be offering business aircraft operators a secure and private alternative to the airport’s main terminal.

The private jet terminal at KIA has been set apart from the main terminal 3 building, offering a range of services for private jet customers, aircraft and crew.

This is part of efforts by the government to change the face of aviation in the country.

The FBO is expected to help McDan in achieving its goal of enhancing customer experience while expanding its business at Ghana’s main airport.

McDan has over the years earned an enviable reputation for shipping and logistics management.

Per the FBO, McDan will now cater for the full ground handling services at KIA T1. This will include but not limited to general aviation operations, aircraft service operations, aircraft airframe and engine repairs (maintenance) and aircraft rentals.

Others services to be provided will be aircraft charter, aircraft sales and aircraft storage and hangar rentals.

McDan will be required to invest in the appropriate equipment and infrastructure that will ensure efficient, safe and secure operations at the airport and also recruit and maintain personnel in adequate numbers

Private jet airports and terminals are designed to make life easier, giving people opportunity to drive onto the tarmac, check in to board their aircraft or in the lounge.

The facility boasts of VIP lounge, a crew lounge and flight planning office, as well as conference facilities and a hangar.

Passengers and crew can complete customs and immigration procedures in the same building, which also features a restaurant that can provide in-flight catering.
