Evangelist Diana Asamoah
Evangelist Diana Asamoah, a renowned gospel artist on Monday, presented educational materials worth GHC10,000.00 to two basic schools in the Wenchi Municipality of the Bono Region.
The 2,000 exercises books, pencils and pens, erasers and a quantity of school uniforms would be distributed to pupils and students of Ahwene and Buoko M/A Primary and Junior High Schools (JHSs).
Diana for Christ Foundation and Aba Father, a charitable organisation and the FrimPrince Music Production provided funding for the procurement of the learning materials.
In addition, Evangelist Asamoah presented 50 bags of cement for work to begin on the construction of a kindergarten block for the Ahwene M/A Primary and JHS, her former school.
Currently, the more than 100 kindergarten pupils attend classes under a dilapidated structure.
Evangelist Asamoah told newsmen that education was the best legacy to bequeath to the younger generation, thus the need for all Ghanaians to support President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s vision of providing accessible and quality education to the populace.
She said with the implementation of the Free Senior High School (FSHS) programme, no child should be left behind in accessing secondary education and appealed to teachers to redouble their efforts to help the students to pass well in the Basic Education Certificate Examination to benefit from the FSHS programme.
The renowned Gospel Musician indicated that teachers had enormous responsibility in ensuring the proper upbringing and development of children, saying irrespective of where the child lived, he/she had a special talent and it was the responsibility of the teachers to unearth and nurture such talents.
Evangelist Asamoah noted that as she celebrates her birthday this month, the presentation was the best gift she could give back to society, and advised the students to learn hard, accept and put Jesus Christ at the “centre” of their lives, so that they would become responsible adults.
The gospel artiste declined to disclose her age but added however that she was within her 40s.
Mr. Collins Kumi, the Head teacher of the Ahwene M/A Primary and JHS, said the student population kept increasing and therefore appealed to the Wenchi Municipal Assembly to provide the school with additional classrooms for effective teaching and learning.
Currently, he said the student population stood at 381 and stressed the need for teachers’ quarters, borehole, toilet and urinals for boys and girls and the staff.
