The Minister of Roads and Highways, Kwasi Amoako-Atta says he will not allow any media house to determine the way he would discharge his duties.

His comment comes on a back of a sustained campaign on both traditional media and social media calling on government to construct the seven-kilometer (km) Teshie link road also known as LEKMA road which has been a subject of grave concern to many residents of the area and the public.

The LEKMA road has been one of the critical roads in the country, reason being that it is the road which leads to a referral hospital, which is the LEKMA Hospital.

Kwesi Amoako-Atta, who led a team from the ministry to inspect on-going work on some road projects in Accra, including the LEKMA road disclosed that government has released GH¢17 million to the contractor with a directive to him to complete the construction of the road in six months.

But the Minister stressed that his ministry has planned a schedule for the construction of deplorable roads in the country and would not bow to pressure from the media.

“Nobody can set an agenda for me, whoever wants to embark on that route should come to my Ministry tomorrow and I’ll give the person all the bad roads that we’re tackling."

"They should close their office in Accra and move from region to region and broadcast from there. There are others who broadcast, they called us and we’re working with them. Journalists, you should help us to develop our nation.”
