President inspects progress of works on Odawnaa-Sahara storm drains

His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on Tuesday visited the Korle Klottey Municipality where he inspected an on-going construction works on the Odaw River Storm drain at Odornaa Garages in Accra as part of his three-day working visit to the region.

The President was welcomed by the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Korle Klottey Municipal Assembly KoKMA, Honorable Nii Adjei Tawiah, Adabraka Manste Nii Tetteh Adjaben II, officials of the KoKMA, NPP Constituency Executives and party activists.

The visit afforded the President to have a firsthand knowledge about the extent of work done by the contractors to address the engineering challenges to curb the perennials flooding in the area.

The floods had often claimed lives and continue to pose danger to lives and loss of properties anytime there was a heavy downpour.

The project forms part of the President's pledge to the inhabitants of the area during the 2016 electioneering campaign.

The President was accompanied by the Works and Housing Minister, Hon. Samuel Atta Akyea, Trade and Industry Minister, Hon. Alan Kyeremateng, Council of State Member, Hon Stanley Adjiri Blankson, Greater Accra Regional Minister, Hon Ishmael Ashietey, Greater Accra Regional, Hajj Board chairman Hon. Sheikh I. C. Quaye, party Executives and other party stalwarts.

Speaking to reporters after the inspection, the M.C.E, Nii Adjei Tawiah noted that the drains at Odornaa had been one of the legacy projects of the President to bring an end to the suffering of the mass of people staying in that locality.

According to him, the President was delighted that priority had been given to the project and is progressing steadily to completion emphasizing that the work was about 50% complete.

He said within the short span of the creation of KoKMA, the Assembly had been instrumental in ensuring the speedy construction of the project under the Ministry of Works and Housing
