GMEF holds maiden GEA Awards in Accra

Ghana Monitoring and Evaluation Forum has held its maiden Ghana Evaluation Awards to honour organisations and individuals that distinguished themselves in their line of duty in 2019.

The awards followed their successful third annual conference held in Accra on the theme: “Over a decade of promoting M&E in Ghana; Achievements, Challenges and Prospects.”

Apart from the individuals and organisations, members of the old Advisory Board and Steering Committee were also awarded for their commitment and dedication to monitoring and evaluation.

Mr Sulley Gariba, a business Consultant and former Presidential Advisor was awarded lifetime achievement award in Monitoring and Evaluation, while the 2019 M&E Personality award was received by Mr Kwabena Agyei Boakye, Chief Director of the Ministry of Monitoring and Evaluation(MoME).

Christian Service University College received best 2019 Higher Education Institute award, while the National Development and Planning Commission received the 2019 meritorious practice of M&E in the Public Sector.

Mr Daniel Essel, received the 2019 most outstanding Young and emerging evaluation award, while the Ministry of Monitoring and Evaluation received innovation in M&E award, with UNICEF receiving the best Development Partner to the GMEF award.

Madam Dede Bedu-Addo Coordinator of GMEF also received a special award for dedication and commitment to the work of GMEF.

In an address, Mr William Kwasi Siabi, Deputy Minister for MoME announced that the Ministry would soon launch Results Fair in January to showcase the performance of government flagship programmes in the country.

He said they would also carry out a citizen assessment survey to find out the performance of government in the past three years.

Dr Nana Opare Gyan, an official of the NDPC said they had over the years helped in the M&E in the country and would continue to collaborate with relevant organisations to ensure that policies and projects were executed according to their specifications.
