King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II is now President of the Ga Traditional Council
King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II is now President of the Ga Traditional Council. Known in private life as Dr. Kelvin Nii Tackie, the newly inducted Ga Mantse was inducted Saturday, May 9, 2020, in the presence of some major chiefs under the paramountcy.
Dzaasetse of the Ga Stool and Principal Kingmaker, Nii Dr. Tettei Kwei, pronounced him as legitimate occupant of the presidency of the Ga Traditional Council.
The Ga Mantse, speaking at the ceremony, promised to foster unity to the state and among the people, by leading with truth and trust as his guiding principles. He also pledged to serve the people, promote education and the Ga heritage, while encouraging a united people.
‘"Let us learn from the proverbial broom; a broomstick can be broken easily and it cannot even sweep; but if you have a bunch of them, it is hard to break them and they sweep better," he said.
“I did not come to rule over you; I came to serve you. I have to bring unity among us so that glory will return to the Ga State. We want prosperity and peace. The Ga State will never be the same," King Teiko Tsuru II.
On the COVID-19 and its spread in the country, the Ga Mantse had this to say;
“Because I don’t want the coronavirus to affect us, let us all adhere to the safety precautions given by the government. Let us always wear nose masks and wash our hands often.”
With traditional Ga Chieftancy culture on display, persons in attendance enjoyed amidst drumming, dance among others.
Among personalities present were Sempe Mantse, Nii Adote Otintor, Otublohun Mantse, Nii Dodoo Nsaki who was Acting as President until Saturday and the Principal Kingmaker.
