2024 Election: ‘Some pollsters came to us for funding, we said no’ – Nana Akomea

Nana Akomea, a Vice Chairman of the campaign team of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has given reasons why he distrusts polls on the pending December 7, 2024, general elections.

Speaking in an interview on GHOne TV on November 13, 2024, Nana Akomea, the Managing Director at Intercity STC Coaches, claimed that some pollsters came to his party for money to run their polls.

He said the NPP refused to give them the money and turned them away.

“These polls, I can tell you, take it from me, some of these people running around and saying they are doing credible polls, some of them, they came to NPP to fund them. We said no.”

Pressured to name the pollsters who came to the NPP for money, Akomea said, “I’m saying take it from me. No, I won’t mention names now… but I can tell you for a fact that some of them, they came looking for funding. So, I am wary about some of these polls that come.”

The NPP campaign vice chair also indicated that his party has its internal poll on the upcoming elections, which is directing its efforts.

“For a party like the NPP and, I suppose, the NDC, a party worthy of sorts, you have your own polling. We NPP, we have our own in-house polling. That gives us perceptions and changes in perceptions on a monthly basis.

“They are telling us a different story… this internal poll that I’m even talking about is not announced. It’s for our own internal consumption.”

As if the results of the polls were positive, he retorted, “It’s not negative? It’s not negative.”
