Coronavirus: I see light at the end of the tunnel - Health Minister

The Health Minister, Kwaku Agyeman Manu, has said government’s fight against the coronavirus pandemic is yielding positive results.

According to him, the mitigating measures being put in place by stakeholders are proof that government is on track.

The Minister was speaking on the floor of Parliament today May, 19, 2020, while updating the House on government’s fight against COVID-19.

“Mr Speaker, I see light at the end of the tunnel. With the successive decline in active cases. This light can be made and even appear brighter if we wear our mask, wash our hands frequently and practice social distancing.” He stated.

Mr Agyeman-Manu added that efforts by government have been met with positive attitudinal change from citizens.

On tracing and testing, the Health Minister further stressed that government is committed to aggressive tracing and testing.

“Ghana is dedicated to the practice of early monitoring and management of COVID-19 to keep the spread very low and possibly avoid deaths from COVID-19.

“We can fight the virus and save lives from early support care.” He averted.

Confirmed cases in Ghana as at May 19, 2020, are 5,918.





There have been two additional deaths raising the tally to 31. However, the recovery rate still stands at 1, 754 according to the Ghana Health Service.
