The chief of Wassa Hemeng-Patasie in the Wassa Amenfi East Municipality of the Western Region, Nana Afuoteng II has said politicians who wish to campaign in his town in the run up to the 2020 elections would have to pay money, to compensate for the discrimination his people has suffered over the years.

According to him, all the communities in the municipality, especially his town, Hemeng-Patasie have been neglected in terms of development, thereby jeopardizing the economic growth and progress of the Amenfi enclave.

In an interview with Kumasi-based Angel FM monitored by MyNewGgh.com, Nana Afuoteng II mentioned that, governments past and present have failed to live up to the promises they make to his people, when they go canvassing for their votes during elections.

He says nothing will stop him from quoting fees for politicians who would wish to campaign to his people, warning that, anyone who would refuse the payment should forget about the votes of the people of Hemeng-Patasie.

He justified his decision by saying that, monies that would be collected from politicians shall be used to establish a fund to cater for the developmental deficits in the town, without having to rely on the municipal assembly or the central government.

Nana Afuoteng II maintained that, that would be the surest way for his town to see development, since politicians cannot be trusted with their promises made on campaign platforms.
