Mixed reactions greeted Ghana Health Service’s latest announcement of an increase in Ghana’s coronavirus infections and deaths on social media.
The Ghana Health Service (GHS) on May 9, 2020, announced that Ghana’s confirmed cases of the coronavirus have increased from 4,012 to 4,263, an increase of 251 new cases with 4 more deaths also recorded, making the total number of deaths jump from 18 to 22.
Both the Information Ministry and Ministry of Health Facebook pages were inundated with comments and reactions after the announcement of the new cases, with many wondering if the government is handling the pandemic well enough.
While some think the government is losing the fight, others blamed the rise of cases on stubborn Ghanaians who keep flouting the safety protocols outlined by the government, there by refusing to wear nose masks or adhere to social distancing protocols.
