A section of the Minority in parliament staged a walkout Wednesday morning after they raised concerns about what they described as an unconstitutionality during the discussion on the recent budget.

South Dayi MP Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor, however, told Class FM’s parliamentary correspondent, Ekow Annan, that the policy decision by government to cut the allocation to the District Assemblies’ Common Fund was unconstitutional and was the main reason for the exit of Minority MPs on March 15.

“They (Majority) are of the opinion that they are still within the constitutional remit, but we said ‘no’ and if we participate in the approval of the budget we will be perpetrating an illegality,” he explained.

According to him, if the Majority is willing to amend that portion of the budget, the Minority will fully participate in the approval of the budget presented to parliament by the Minister of Finance.
