As part of their contribution to support players in the tourism industry under the umbrella of the Ghana Tourism Federation (GHATOF) Prudential Bank Limited has donated Personal Protective Equipments(PPE'S) to the Ghana Tourism Authority.

Among the trade associations under GHATOF who benefited from the donation are the Ghana Traditional Caterers Association, Indigenous Caterers Association, Ghana Drinking Bar Operators Association(GHABOA) and the National Drinking Bar Association ( NADBOA)

The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority, Mr. Akwasi Agyeman who received the items together with GHATOF President, Madam Bella Ahu, thanked the officials from Prudential Bank for their nice gesture.

He reiterated that the tourism industry has been hardest hit by COVID-19 pandemic and therefore as a regulator, GTA feels the pain for players in the tourism industry especially those in the informal sector like chopbars, fast food joints and the like. He called on other philanthropists to also support the tourism industry in these challenging times.

“We want to thank Prudential Bank for this nice gesture. As you know the industry is one of the hardest hit by this pandemic. No public gathering and no gathering so we feel the pain of the operators so we’ve been engaging our corporate partners in ways that we can all support government’s measures to mitigate the circumstances for operators and Prudential has responded quite generously with all these items”.

Speaking in an interview, Executive Head of Operations for Prudential Bank, Mr. Thomas Broni said Prudential Bank is a truly indigenous bank and whiles observing the interventions that GTA was making to support tourism operators, they deem it fit to also do same especially to the informal sector.

“We are a truly indigenous bank and no one understands the needs of indigenous Ghanaians than Prudential Bank . We’ve seen what GTA is doing and we noticed that it is going to the core of the indigenous sector of the tourism industry. It was therefore necessary that as a truly indigenous bank to support what GTA is doing so that together we can overcome Covid-19”.

The items donated include nose masks, liquid soaps tissue papers and veronica buckets.
