The old photo shows the late former president behind a pulpit
Later this year, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the whole country, for that matter, would mark 10 years since the passing of the country’s only sitting president to have died in office, John Evans Atta Mills.
The late former president died on July 24, 2012.
Ahead of that, there have been several activities lined towards that milestone but in this Wednesday’s throwback, GhanaWeb brings back a rare, old photo of the former president.
The photo shows a relatively younger John Evans Atta Mills standing behind a pulpit, speaking to an audience at an event.
“The picture of Prof. J. E. A. Mills was taken at the British Council Hall during the inaugural Ohene Djan Memorial Lectures as main speaker.
“The then Ohene Djan Memorial Lectures was organised by RICS Consult, then operating as Rex-Image Associates.
“Then Dr. J. E. A. Mills was the Speaker at the function chaired by Prof. George Benneh as VC of University of Ghana and Hon. Kwame Saarah-Mensah as PNDC Secretary for Youth and Sports,” a comment from Rex Danquah, then organiser of the event, shared with GhanaWeb.
The black and white photograph has the late former president spotting a two-piece suit and a flying tie to match.
