President Akufo-Addo received the letters of credence of four new envoys yesterday.

The four new envoys- Emad Mugsy Hanna Kamel from Egypt, Stephanie S. Sullivan from the United States, ÖzlemGülsün Ergün Ulueren of Turkey and Pham Anh Tuan from Vietnam-presented their letters to the President at the Jubilee House.

President Akufo-Addo, who welcomed them to the country, talked of the cordial relationship that exist between Ghana and their respective countries and stressed the need for them to strengthen it.

President Akufo-Addo pledged to support the ambassadors during their tenure in Ghana.

He urged them not to hesitate to get in touch with officials of the Presidency and Foreign Ministry to seek assistance.

The Egyptian envoy, who was first to meet the President said, “As Egypt’s Ambassador to Ghana, the promotion of trade and investments between our two countries will be at the heart of my preoccupations. Eagerly, I wish to emphasize that there is a lot to be done still. The promotion of investments and trade ties take us to new, tangible levels of cooperation between our peoples. I expect it to be much stronger after the implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Agreement.”

US Ambassador to Ghana, Stephanie Sullivan said she was looking forward to working with the government of Ghana to advance and diversify Ghana’s encouraging trade while removing barriers for U.S businesses.

“In addition to being one of Ghana’s principal trading partners, the United States is working through our mission in Ghana to strengthen the economy across industries.”

On her part, the Turkish Ambassador to Ghana ÖzlemGülsünErgünUlueren, emphasized that relations with Africa are very important to Turkey, which is determined to boost trade with the continent.

She said she would strengthen ties between Ghana and Turkey, insisting that Turkey would continue to be an important development partner of Ghana.

Vietnam’s Ambassador to Ghana Pham Anh Tuan said, “I feel honoured to have been appointed Ambassador of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to a country like Ghana that I hold in high esteem.

“At the same time, I am fully aware of my heavy responsibilities to promote multi-faceted cooperation and relations between our two countries.”

“During my tenure of office, I will exert myself to expand and deepen the traditional relations between our two countries, enhance the mutual understandings and friendship between our governments and peoples and take Vietnam-Ghana relations to new level.”
