Security analyst and Chief Executive Officer of Irbard Security Consult, Alhaji Irbard Ibrahim has while condemning attacks on Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia, appealed to him to avoid criticism of former President John Mahama that opens up his high office of Vice President to attacks.

Alhaji Irbard Ibrahim is disappointed that Ghanaians attack the high office of Vice President, desecrating it in process.

“I don’t see Americans treat Mike Pence the way some Ghanaians are treating Dr. Bawumia. I didn’t see Americans treat Joe Biden the way some Ghanaians treated Mr. Amissah Arthur.

Both political parties are to blame for this culture of desecrating the high office of the Vice President,” he noted in a statement posted on social media.

The Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia has come under criticism for responding to claims by former President Mahama on the economy.

But Alhaji Irbard Ibrahim has noted that such exchanges open up the high office of the Vice President to abuse.

“I also humbly urge the Veep to avoid using words on the former President Mahama that would open his office up to abuse,” he appealed.

Background

The former President, John Mahama, had claimed that the current government’s inability to complete many projects his government had started and the crumbling of the economy following the COVID-19 pandemic demonstrated his (Mahama) government was better than the current one.

But Bawumia responded by comparing the current government’s handling of the COVID-19 pandemic and how John Mahama’s government handled power outages, claiming that this government has done much better than how power outages ( dumsor) was handled, adding that the current government had built more infrastructure across sectors than any other government in its first term.

However this reaction of the Vice President has attracted much criticism and attacks from some Ghanaians.

I have met both the current and late Vice Presidents. They have a lot in common in their calm demeanor and their warm welcome.

I am not happy at all with the unprintable things that have been said about the Vice President in the past few hours.

I also humbly urge the Veep to avoid using words on the former President Mahama that would open his office up to abuse.

I hope this humble advice from an every-day Ghanaian will be taken in good faith by both sides.
