Minority in Parliament has called on government to immediately deploy the 8 mobile clinic vans procured by the NDC administration which are currently rotting away at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital.

The vans which were procured to support health delivery in the rural areas as an urgent means of addressing health care challenges have been packed for 3 years.

These vans are meant to serve multiple purposes which include dental, general medical care, ENT, ophthalmology, and audiology assessment among others.

During a visit to Korle-Bu by the Minority members, ranking member on the Health Committee of Parliament, Kwabena Mintah Akando, said the Minority is disheartened with this development as the Akufo-Addo government seems not to take health issues seriously.

"...the government is joking with the health sector, these vans were bought about six years ago and they were deployed to the hard to reach areas to provide health care services to the good people of Ghana. For more than 3 years these vans have been packed here and are rotting away. This place is very close to the sea and the vans are rotting away. How are we putting to good use the taxpayer’s money? These vans were procured by the taxpayer’s money and I believe it can be used to save lives in this county," he said.

The Minority has called on government to as a matter of urgency, put these vans to use in the various hinterlands to serve Ghanaians

"We can’t allow these vans to be packed here to rot away. It’s rather unfortunate. Therefore, the minister responsible we need action and not the plenty talks. These vans must go to the field and work," Mr Akando added.
