Emmnarg Groupe Foundation, a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) has through its ‘Widow's Smile Project’ donated assorted items to widows and the aged in the Shai Osudoku District of The Greater Accra Region.

The donation of the items and cash amounts on Monday, December 23, 2019 was in the light of the Christmas festivities where the group led by its Executive Director, Mr. Emmanuel Nargeh presented the items to the 21 widows at a colourful ceremony at the Mount Zion Presbyterian church at Dodowa to spend the day and donate to the widows who have lost their husbands years ago.

Items donated included bags of rice, canned fish, cooking oil, bottles of soft drinks and some money, according to Mr. Emmanuel Nargeh, were to assist the less privileged widows in society particularly during the yuletide festivities.

“As a foundation and an NGO, we believe everybody must enjoy this Christmas so that as we celebrate in our homes, so must we share with our mothers, the widows and the aged,” said CEO of the group, Mr. Emmanuel Nargeh in an interview. “This is to put a smile on their faces because most of them are old and they would have smiled if their husbands were alive.”

The CEO who likened the NGO to the husbands of the widows saw the gesture as reminiscent of the love the women would have enjoyed from their husbands were they to be alive.

Mr. Emmanuel Nargeh who recounted other acts of philanthropy he's done, called on other members of society to assist the less privileged in society. Nene Dr. TeiDjahene Korabo IV (Chief of Manya / Snr. Asafoatse of Shai State) who is one of the main patrons of the Emmnarg Groupe Foundation expressed gratitude to the widows for honouring the invitation of the NGO.

The chief commended and thanked Mr. Emmanuel Nargeh and his NGO for putting a smile on the faces of the poor widows and urged the public to engage in such activities, especially during the Christmas and New Year celebrations.

Gyaase Ofosu Oblim (Gyaase of Numerse, Dodowa) thanked the foundation for this kind gesture done.

They wished the NGO well in its philanthropic activities and urged them to do more for the needy in society.

Describing the gesture as a dream come true, for them, the widows who were grateful for the gesture expressed relief at the act of benevolence showed by the NGO as they had no hope of celebrating the Christmas until the arrival of the “good news.”

They appealed to other benevolent organizations to emulate the show of love by the Emmnarg Groupe Foundation and assist the aged and widowed in society.

The widows who received the items with glee, expressed their profound gratitude to Mr. Emmanuel Nargeh and the NGO for the kind gesture and called on other members of society to support them.

On his part, Shai Osudoku Director of Social Welfare, Mr. Robert Mensah Gbley thanked the Foundation for this kindness unto the widows and hoped for more of that.

He ended by urging the widows to remember the foundation in its prayers to do more for them.

During the group’s visit to the orphanage, the widows were assured of the continued support of the group as well as the support of society in general.

This act of philanthropy was one of several acts engaged in by the group and it was done in fulfillment of his desire and quest to help improve the standard of living of the less privileged women.

The group said all fortunate persons in society owe the less privileged a duty to provide for them as it further indicated that similar acts of philanthropy will be extended to other persons in need.

The Emmnarg Groupe Foundation with the motto: “Bringing Changes to all lives,” was founded in August 2018 by Mr. Emmanuel Nargeh on the biblical foundation which says, "But when you give a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind, and you will be blessed. This foundation aside its social intervention programmes in health and education also seeks to support the needy and less privileged in diverse ways possible to make life better for them.
