Veteran Ghanaian actress Grace Omaboe popularly known as Maame Dokono has said that the Golden Movie Awards Africa (GMAA) is the best movie awarding scheme on the African continent.
“I think it is the best in Africa,” Maame Dokono who is a member of the Grand Jury of the awards said at the Launch and Nominees Announcement at the Tang Palace Hotel in Accra.
According to her, the GMAA is different from the other movie awards in Africa because they look out for the best movies.
“The Golden Movie Awards is quite different from the other movie awards because … we select from all over the continent of Africa. We look forward for the best. We actually look for the best and we take our time,” she said.
She also added that compared to last year; movies that were submitted this year were good.
“The jury sat for over two to three weeks selecting from over a hundred films. It was really difficult because most of the movies that (were submitted) came this year were very very good and we have been able to come out with the nominees.”
