The Film Producers Association of Ghana, FIPAG has opened doors for its members to submit their movies for this year’s Golden Movie Awards.

The organisation ordered its members not to file for nominations for this year’s awards when organisers announced in January that “nominations are open for consideration of awards for the 2016 Golden Movie Awards slated for May 2016.”

FIPAG arrived at the decision because NMJ Ghana, organisers of the awards officially did not inform them of the event.

Michael Kwaku Ola, FIPAG PRO who confirmed their unity with Golden Movie Awards organisers said, “yes its true, we had a meeting with them and we have trashed out issues”.

Ola detailing the problem they had with the awards organisers said “we don’t allow people to organise awards programs with our name when we are not aware of it”

“They didn’t alert us on why our members should submit, what the awards was about and why the stakeholders who have worked hard to keep this industry were not informed.”

He continued that “they have apologised and we have to move on”. FIPAG met organisers of the awards last Friday, March 18 to solve the issue, which prevented members of the Film Producers Association of Ghana to submit their movies for nomination.

Socrate Safo, a grand jury member of the awards in an interview with Zionfelix.com also revealed the number of movies they have received after the ban was lifted.

According to him, about 102 movies have been submitted from FIPAG members after the Friday meeting.

He added that organisers have extended the deadline of submitting film entries.

Socrate said movies will not be accepted after two weeks and this is to allow FIPAG members who qualify to submit their movies.
