The Convention People’s Party (CPP) on Friday September 30 presented its presidential nomination forms to the Electoral Commission (EC) to enable its flag bearer Ivor Kobina Greenstreet run for the December polls.

Speaking about the EC’s request for an asset declaration form to be included in the documents for submission despite it not being a requirement under the country’s electoral laws, Mr Greenstreet told journalists the CPP believed in transparency and, therefore, he did not see anything wrong with declaring his assets.

“We always wish to comply with orders of institutions of government and we are willing and hoping to be transparent about our affairs so we feel that is the right thing to do,” he stated.

In a related development, People’s National Convention (PNC) flag bearer Dr Edward Mahama failed to take along a picture of himself which will be used on the ballot paper. The EC, therefore, gave him up to 5pm Friday to present his picture.

Earlier on Thursday, the two leading contenders – John Dramani Mahama of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) and Nana Akufo-Addo of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) – submitted their nomination forms.

Other aspirants who have submitted their forms are Akwasi ‘Odike’ Addai of the United Progressive Party (UPP), Nana Agyenim Boateng, aka Gyataba, of the United Freedom Party (UFP), Mr Hassan Ayariga of the All People’s Congress (APC), and Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom of the Progresive People’s Party (PPP).

The rest are Mr Kofi Apaloo of the Independent People’s Party (IPP), Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings of the National Democratic Party (NDP), Madam Akua Donkor of the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP), Mr Kwabena Adjei of the Reform Patriotic Democrats (RPD), and WO1 Richard Nixon Tetteh of the Unity Development System Party (UDSP).

The deadline for the submission of nomination forms is Friday.
