Alexander Frimpong, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Asante-Akim South, has called on investors and the business community to explore the huge business potentials in the Municipality for investment.

He said the Municipality was endowed with vast tracts of land, manual labour, access to water and electricity and above all, support from the Municipal Assembly to prospective investors.

The MCE made the call after an inspection tour of a fertilizer factory under construction at Asankare, under the One District One Factory (1D 1F) initiative.

Accompanied by the Municipal Coordinating Director, Mr Fred Agyemang and Municipal Works Engineer, Mr John Koffie, the MCE inspected the progress of work and interacted with workers.

The factory, which is about 80 per cent complete is expected to commence production in November, this year.

The expectation is that the local production of fertilizer would help cut down on the importation of fertilizer into the country.

Mr Frimpong, who was upbeat about the employment opportunities the factory would bring, said the government’s vision of creating jobs through the 1D 1F initiative was a laudable intervention worth supporting by every well-meaning Ghanaian.

He was hopeful that the factory would provide hundreds of direct and indirect jobs with priority given to the locals.

He said the assembly was committed to creating the enabling environment for investors to take advantage of, adding that, management had already engaged chiefs in the Municipality to make lands available for interested investors.

This, he noted, demonstrated the readiness of all stakeholders to support any form of development that seeks to improve the lives of the people.

Also progressing steadily, according to the MCE, is a pig processing factory at Asankare, which is at the roofing level.
