The Minister for Gender and Social Protection Madam Otiko Afisa Djaba has defended her decision to wear a controversial hairstyle that nearly landed her in trouble during her vetting.
She insists her hairstyle depicts the modern Ghanaian woman and has no regrets wearing such a hairstyle taking into account the fact that most youth mostly young girls in the country look up her and also enjoy her because she is young at heart.
Madam Otiko believes those asking her about her hairstyle are discriminating against her because it perfectly fits her and very African.
“Anyone asking about my hairstyle is discriminating against women. I believe those who are talking about it are jealous of me and wish their wives could have it. It is a winning hairstyle and anytime I hit the campus the students call me swagger Mama. It is my choice and not someone else’s”, she disclosed.
The minister rubbished claims it rather depicts styles for ruffians and wayward kids questioning why many are not condemned for growing their beard adding that her hairstyle should not be a subject of discussion at all.
“It is propaganda by my opponents. I love it and anytime I feel like wearing it, I do if I want to put on a scarf I as well do,” she said.
