NDC didn’t build new Kejetia-Central market – Wontumi contests

The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Bernard Antwi Boasiako says the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) cannot claim to be the main architect behind the redeveloped Kumasi Kejetia-Central market which is the largest open market space in West Africa.

“Former President John Mahama and NDC were not the people who constructed the project”, the Chairman goofed when he spoke on Kumasi-based Nhyira FM morning show MyNewsGh.com monitored.

According to the man who calls himself the Governor of the Ashanti Region, the project has been in the pipeline under several government and therefore the previous NDC government cannot claim to have built it.

“The project started far back Acheampong’s regime to Kufuor’s so if under the NDC it has been constructed, they are not the people who constructed it”, Mr. Bernard Antwi Boasiako told host of Nhyira morning show, Kofi Asante Ennin.

Meanwhile President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has also cut the sod for work to commence on the second phase of the redevelopment of the market

At an impressive ceremony at Kejetia, the central business hub of Kumasi, the President was assisted by the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, and British High Commissioner, Mr. Iain Walker to kick start the process for a second phase

The first part, started by the erstwhile National Democratic Congress administration under former President John Mahama has already been completed with a total of 8,400 stores for use.
