A business executive, Nana Wereko-Ampim Opoku has announced in a statement that he will contest for the Ayawaso West Wuogon parliamentary seat on the ticket of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Mr Opoku is a member of the Council of Elders of the NPP in the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency and a financier of the party.
He is currently a board member of the following: Council for Tertiary and Vocational Education and Training (COTVET), Board of Trustees for Academic Prizes Fund of the University of Ghana, Legon, and the Foundation for African Children Education based in Canada.
The Ayawaso West Wuogon seat became vacant following the death of lawmaker Emmanuel Kyeremateng Agyarko.
He passed away in the United States of America while receiving medical treatment.
