Watch out New York, the African stars are coming!Face2Face Africa has confirmed distinguished guests of honor to the Fascinating Africans Committed to Excellence (F.A.C.E List) Awards to be held in NYC on March 26. The impressive lineup includes Ghanaian star actresses, Jackie Appiah and Nadia Buari, international Nigerian journalist, Lola Ogunnaike and Congolese music superstar Awilo Longomba.
One of Africa’s leading actresses, Nadia Buari is well known for helping rejuvenate the film industry with blockbuster hits, “Beyonce” (The President’s Daughter), and Checkmate, among many others. With an interest in service, the actress’ newly found passion is educating small communities in Ghana about safe labor practices and providing necessary resources to ensure safety during child birth.
Best known for her work with one of the world’s premier news agencies, CNN, on the American Morning show, the Nigerian born journalist is making her mark as one of the new young faces of television. Prior to joining CNN, Ogunnaike was a features reporter at the Daily News, and then proceeded to spearheading entertainment coverage for the New York Times.
Currently one of Africa’s most sought after actresses, Jackie Appiah is a household name. The beautiful actress has made her mark as a distinguished and talented actress in Africa, appearing in over ninety movies throughout her career. In 2010, she won Best Actress in Africa at the African Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) with the hit movie, “the perfect picture.”
Known as Africa’s superman, Awilo is the most demanded International African Super-Star from Congo. He is the Winner of Best Soukous Entertainer 2009 @ IRAWMA Awards as well as a 3 time Kora Award winner for Best Central African Musician.
