Actor, Prince David Osei has stated that movie producer, David Owusu is a cheat and an attention seeking individual.
Prince David Osei, who was called on Hitz FM’s Daybreak Hitz on Wednesday to respond to a statement by the movie producer that actors in Kumasi should be careful because English actors were trouping to the place to shoot movies said, the producer “is not correct”.
He could not fathom why such a statement should be made.
“The David Owusu we are talking about is a producer. He is one shoddy guy, a swindler, takes people’s money to produce movies for them and he doesn’t do it. He’s been in police custody several times. The last time I remember working with him was in 2011. He couldn’t even pay me so that guy wants attention,” he noted.
According to the actor, the decision to go shoot movies in Kumasi was informed by the quest to have a united movie industry.
“Now with the issue of actors going to Kumasi, it’s quite unfortunate they are trying to bring this up. Some of us decided to go do movies in Kumasi just to foster unity and build this gradually dying industry of ours… For the records, Van has been doing movies in Kumasi for some time now, Majid did it with Lilwin… I don’t know why this story is coming up,” he intimated.
“I went to Kumasi three or four weeks ago when I came back from the US to do a cameo appearance in a movie that featured myself, Van Vicker, Juliet Ibrahim, Lilwin, Kwaku Manu and others. The next thing I saw online was, ‘I’m not in Kumawood because I’m broke’. Then they started perpetrating stories… Then this guy [David Owusu] also came in to say they should be careful of actors coming in. Are we not all Ghanaians? He’s not somebody anybody should listen to. He is not correct,” Prince David Osei noted.
